What do you mean when you say the soundtrack is 'stream-safe'?
Just what it says on the tin! No one will ever get a take down notice or copyright strike for streaming our soundtrack in any context; use it for Cthulhu Dreamt actual plays, use it for your own games, creative streams, whatever you’d like!

Why Lovecraft, given his problematic history?
It’s no secret that Lovecraft was filled with prejudice. Racism, classism, homophobia; you name it, and he exhibited it. Part of what we want to do with Cthulhu Dreamt is repurpose the world he created, and paint it with our own vision (which, of course, omits his prejudices). Since his work is in the public domain, we have the ability to not only repurpose it to our heart’s content, but only we benefit from it. We love the kinds of creators who do that (like Misha Green and Matt Ruff’s Lovecraft Country), and we’re joining their ranks by flipping the script on the Lovecraft Mythos, and using it to condemn things like mega-corporations and overzealous government control. Consequence of Sound has a great article on this, we recommend you give it a read!

Why do I have to wait over a year for my awesome stuff?
Unfortunately that’s just how long it takes to complete projects like this. We do a lot of editing and playtesting and hold our products to the highest standards we can. When you take this into consideration with shipping and printing times, particularly after the way the pandemic hit the freight and lumber industries, it is an unfortunately slow process.

Do you use any AI art?
Truthfully no; we started experimenting with AI art when it first became public, and considered supplementing the game with it. But, after discovering the techniques used to train the current models on the market, we removed any generated pieces we had and decided to avoid AI generated art for the foreseeable future. We also decided to more actively support human artists by increasing our art budget.

Can I use your game for an actual play?
Absolutely! You can either make use of our preview rules, or you’ll have to wait for the full book. If you’d like to have us on your actual play, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Why don't you have any madness or sanity mechanics?
We decided early on that we would deviate from the normal approach to sanity and madness mechanics because we feel this isn’t the book for those discussions on mental health. We feel the Mental Stress mechanic in the Sojourn system does an amazing job of replacing any dedicated system for sanity or madness and leave it up to the individual facilitator or player to decide if they want to bring more complex rules or discussion for those mechanics to their table.

When do I tell you my shirt size for the 15 shirts I bought?
Thats a lot of shirts! After the conclusion of the Kickstarter campaign, we will send out the BackerKit survey, which will include the options for choosing clothing sizes for anything you may have added on. If you bought multiples for multiple different sizes, we will have an option for that on the survey as well.

When do I pay for shipping?
Shipping is charged in the BackerKit pledge manager after the campaign, closer to when we’ll be shipping the products. This helps us to keep shipping costs down, to minimize financial impact to backers (less of a big hit all at once), and to ensure that your products make their way to you and don’t get lost during any big moves.

Current Estimated Shipping Date: October 2024
We'll be shipping these out ourselves out of our garage, so please be patient with us as we figure out what that process looks like.
Last Updated At: 10/10/23What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
